Ithacas abortion sanctuary law prohibits city resources to aid out-of-state investigations seeking to bring criminal charges against people performing or receiving an abortion and individuals are encouraged to sue Ithaca if the law is not upheld.

Ithaca became a sanctuary city for abortions July 6 after the Common Council voted unanimously to make the ordinance brought forth by Alderperson Robert Cantelmo into city law.

Students march at Take Back the Night after two years online

April 29 Ithaca College students marched to The Commons for the 43rd annual Take Back the Night event in Ithaca after two years of online observation.
Zillah Eisenstein, professor emerita in the Department of Politics at Ithaca College, was one of the speakers at the rally and talked about the importance of not only keeping abortions legal, but also making them accessible.

Student club advocates for Planned Parenthood amid controversy

Debate over Planned Parenthood was renewed in recent months with the release of videos that allegedly showed leaders of the organization negotiating the sale of aborted fetal tissue. Supporters of Planned Parenthood argued that the videos were fraudulent and manipulated, while others called for the government to defund Planned Parenthood over the reports. Junior Christina Tudor, president of IC Planned Parenthood Generation Action, said this is not the first time a group has released videos intended to cause controversy about the organization, and IC Generation Action works to raise awareness around the issue.
