Classroom response systems are applications designed to increase student engagement. Students answer questions on their devices, which the systems share with instructors. ETAC is a group composed of 15 staff, faculty and students from across campus that shares perspectives with college leadership about technology, including classroom response systems.

Editorial: Recent Wi-Fi update caused unnecessary confusion

The residence hall Wi-Fi system was not nearly ready in time for move-in. The confusion that students faced was preventable.
The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management (OPS) is working to increase use of Rave Guardian, the college’s public safety app, among the campus community and at other Ithaca College campuses. While Rave Guardian was introduced to the college’s campus in April 2021, Samm Swarts, associate director of Emergency Preparedness and Response, said the app was launched at the Ithaca College London Center (ICLC) on Aug. 23 and will be available at the Ithaca College Los Angeles campus starting in Spring 2023.

Commentary: IT student leadership is hopeful for respect

The IT student leadership team was compelled to expand their roles and responsibilities in order to maintain IT’s organization.
While there have been no immediate threats to security in these programs, David Weil, chief information officer for Information Technology, said the changes were made because of MFA’s ability to deter hacking and to better protect all student, staff and faculty accounts. 

Cyber security expands at IC with Duo authentication

Duo Multi-Factor Authentication will now be required at IC when logging into Zoom and Formstack Forms to prevent accounts from being compromised.
