Fake blood leads to very real conversations about safety protocols

Kevin Conover, a senior cinema and photography major at Ithaca College, embarked on the filming of an especially bloody scene for his senior film thesis titled “What Simon Said.” Numerous fake, blood-covered props were discarded in dumpsters across Ithaca, which spurred a serial killer investigation by the Ithaca Police Department. 
The campus community was informed of the incident at 10:49 a.m. Oct. 16 via an email from the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management (OPS). According to the email, the Ithaca Police Department (IPD) is investigating the burglary with support from the OPS. It was reported that someone broke into the building, stole a television and fell asleep in the building.

The Ithaca College Office of Public Safety and Ithaca Police Department have increased their patrols and presence on and around campus this fall, due to both standard protocol and recent crime.
There is no new information from the Ithaca Police Department regarding the homicide investigation into the stabbing of Ithaca College sophomore Anthony Nazaire. Nazaire was stabbed to death Aug. 28 on the Cornell University campus.

The Ithaca Police Department is still trying to collect “crucial” video for the homicide investigation of Anthony Nazaire, the Ithaca College sophomore who died in an Aug. 28 stabbing on the Cornell University campus, according to the most recent release from the IPD.
