The Ithaca College women’s track and field team and men’s wrestling team each competed in the NCAA Championships on March 13-14 and did not have any national champions, but saw a total of four athletes be named All-Americans.Â
In the corner of the Ben Light Gymnasium, a digital clock serves as a relentless metronome, counting down the days, hours and minutes until regionals for the Ithaca College men’s wrestling team. While the red numbers tick toward zero, the atmosphere in the room shifted from the quiet frustration of December to a high-velocity intensity.Â
After sending five athletes to the NCAA National Championships in the 2024-25 season, the Ithaca College men’s wrestling team is reloading with a singular focus: to claim the program's first national team title since 1994.

The Ithaca College men’s wrestling team opened its season at the Ithaca Invitational on Nov. 7 and 8 in dominant fashion, pinning down a first place team finish, five champions and one outstanding wrestler.Â
On March 14 and 15, the Ithaca College wrestling team wrapped up another season with a 42nd place finish at the NCAA Division lll National Championship. Despite falling short of lofty preseason goals that included competing for a national team title, the team still holds its head high led by senior Xavier Pommells who recorded an All-American finish by placing eighth overall in the 184 lb bracket.Â

After sending five athletes to the NCAA National Championship meet in the 2023–24 season, the Ithaca College wrestling team is locked in this year as it strives to put enough individuals on the podium to win the long-eluded NCAA Division III Wrestling Team Championship — something the team has not secured since 1994.Â
For the first time since the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships on March 15 and 16, the Ithaca College men’s wrestling team took to the mat at its 40th annual season-opening Bomber Invitational on Nov. 1-2. Out of the 11 teams at the meet, the team saw itself in fourth place after day one with 46 points and concluded day two and the invitational in third place with 151.5 points.
The Ithaca College wrestling team sent five competitors to the NCAA Division lll wrestling championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on March 15. The tournament capped off what was another successful season for the Bombers as they continued their tradition of excellence in the Division lll wrestling scene.
The Ithaca College men’s wrestling team competed in the Ithaca Quad on Feb. 3, dominating in all three matches in a pinning frenzy. Throughout the three matches, the Bombers racked up 14 wins by fall.
The Ithaca College wrestling team is looking to build upon a second-place finish at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships and fight for another chance at a national title.
