On Jan. 30, Jesus Romero-Hernandez was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Tompkins County Department of Social Services. Community members came together to promote unity and protest against ICE’s presence in Ithaca. There were three demonstrations, two taking place on The Commons and one in City Hall.

Ithaca protesters hold ‘die-in’ for Eric Garner

About 100 people from Ithaca participated in a 'die-in' on The Commons as a vigil for Eric Garner, who died in the chokehold of New York Police Department Officer Daniel Pantaleo.
This is a virtual view of Ithaca Falls from the Google Street View tool. The 360 degree mapping of Ithaca’s natural areas, a project of the city’s Geographic Information Systems Program, was unveiled the morning of Nov. 19.
