Announced merger raises tension between faculty and administration

Presidential search committee announces creation of prospectus

David Fleisher ’91, chair of the Presidential Search Committee, announced the creation of the presidential search prospectus in a message Nov. 11.
At around 10:30 p.m. the night of Monday, Feb. 21, an Ithaca College student was struck twice by airsoft pellets.

Students must be vaccinated to return to campus for Fall 2021

Ithaca College President Shirley M. Collado announced in an email to the campus community April 7 that students will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to return to campus for Fall 2021.
The APPIC released the draft “Shape of the College” document Jan. 13, which recommended the elimination of 116 full-time equivalent (FTE) faculty positions and 26 major, department and program eliminations.

IC announces search committee for vice president for finance

Ithaca College announced the members of the search committee for a new vice president for finance and administration. 
Bill Guerrero, vice president for finance and administration, is leaving the college to take the role of vice president for finance and administration at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Bill Guerrero, vice president for finance and administration, is leaving IC for a role at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts.
In a Dec. 14 email to the college community, Ithaca College President Shirley M. Collado called the behavior unacceptable and referred to it as an act of vandalism. She said that it was disrespectful to do this on the same day as the December Graduation Celebration. 

Collado condemns display protesting faculty and staff cuts

President Shirley M. Collado condemned a display of signs and markings calling for financial transparency amid faculty, staff and program cuts.
Hundreds of admitted and returning students have decided not to attend the college for Fall 2020. Enrollment at the college has decreased from 6,266 students in Fall 2019 to 5,354 students in Fall 2020.

Students respond to IC’s decision to hold Fall 2020 classes remotely

Over the past few months, the spread of COVID-19 forced educational institutions to change their reopening plans for Fall 2020, and IC was no exception.

IC provides updates on campus life for 2020–21 academic year

The Return to Campus Task Force provided information about campus life during the 2020–21 academic year at the All-Student Gathering July 23. 
The Class of 2021 Commencement ceremony will occur May 23 for undergraduates and at 4 p.m. May 21 for graduate students. Both ceremonies will take place in the Glazer Arena at the Athletics and Events Center.

Class of 2020 reacts to Commencement ceremony cancellation

President Shirley M. Collado made the announcement June 8 that the in-person 125th Commencement ceremony had been canceled.
The virtual open-conversation session was led by David Lissy ’87, chair of the board of trustees, and James Nolan ’77, vice chair of the board of trustees. About 55 people attended the event.

IC Board of Trustees approves 2020–21 fiscal budget

The Board of Trustees approved the 2020–21 budget, a decrease from the 2019–20 budget, after delaying approval due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
