Commentary: We must dare to envision radical change for the film and television industry

I often notice an unease in the eyes of many film students whenever our lives after graduation are brought up — an unease I’m sure can also be seen in my own eyes. While the nation’s current challenges of inflation, unaffordable housing and crushing debt remain unsolved, pursuing a career in the film industry is the riskiest it has ever been for people who don’t come from affluent backgrounds. It’s much easier to wait for new opportunities in cinema when you aren’t relying on them to eke out a living. Stable, rewarding careers in the movie business aren’t a guarantee for people who come from wealth, either. Ultimately, filmmaking is a considerably volatile field.
A U.S. district judge ruled that a former student’s claims against Ithaca College for violating Title IX and about Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress against Bryan Roberts, former associate dean of the Roy. H Park School of Communications, will survive. This means that the claims will be further pursued in court.

In a decision and order filed Sept. 10, a U.S. district judge ruled that a former student’s claim against Ithaca College for violating Title IX will survive. The student’s claim about Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress against Bryan Roberts, former associate dean of the Roy. H Park School of Communications, will also survive. This means that the claims will be further pursued in court.

Park Promotions plans its very first Park Convention

A new exhibition experience is coming to Ithaca College. The Park Convention, hosted by Park Promotions, will showcase student work from across the Roy H. Park School of Communications’ 10 majors and nine minors. The inaugural Park Convention will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. April 19 on the third floor of Park Hall.
The lawsuit was filed against Ithaca College and Bryan Roberts, former associate dean of the Roy. H Park School of Communications.

An Ithaca College student filed a civil lawsuit against the college and a former associate dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications in November 2023. The student alleged that he was sexually abused and harassed by four then-employees of the college, including the former associate dean.

Student organization prepares to host TEDx event on campus
