Student-athletes enhance their health science education on the playing field

Beyond their experiences in the classroom, student-athletes at Ithaca College are expanding their knowledge of the human body through the grind of practice sessions and the excitement of game days.

The Ithaca College Presidential Medal will be presented to Linda Petrosino ’77, retiring dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance, on May 21 at the 2023 Commencement Ceremony.

Melanie Stein, provost and senior vice president of academic affairs, announced the retirement of Linda Petrosino as dean of the School of HS&HP.
Julie Dorsey, professor, chair and program director of the Department of Occupational Therapy, said the faculty in the department worked hard to develop the curriculum for the doctorate program so that it is efficient for students. Additionally, Dorsey said only 50 students will be admitted to the OTD doctorate program. 

Department of Occupational Therapy offers doctoral degree program

The Department of Occupational Therapy has implemented a new six-year undergraduate-plus doctoral degree program that will begin in Fall 2023.
The program is 27 months long and is designed for college graduates interested in pursuing health careers.

New Physician Assistant program welcomes first students

School of HSHP education majors eliminated

The health education, physical education and dual degree in both health and physical education are among the programs to be cut as part of the APP process.

School of HSHP clinics operate amid COVID-19 pandemic

Clinics in the School of Health Science and Human Performance are continuing to offer hands-on learning experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Christina Moylan, director of public health emergency preparedness, first began working at the college in 2015 as an assistant professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education in which she specialized in health policy and management. She then went on to work as associate dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance in 2018.
