Diverse speakers fill gaps in the curriculum and allow students to see how much industries have changed. 
Steven Banks, assistant professor in the Department of Performance Studies at Ithaca College, and three other musicians were chosen to receive three-year comprehensive management contracts. This contract offers Banks performing opportunities at recital halls and with orchestras in New York City and Washington, D.C. 

Music professor wins international performance award

Steven Banks, assistant professor at Ithaca College, is the first saxophonist in 59 years to earn a place on the YCA roster.
La Jerne Cornish, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, announced that Karl Paulnack, dean of the School of Music, and Diane Gayeski, dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications, will be leaving their positions at the end of the 2019–20 academic year.

The Ithacan is highlighting seniors from each of the five schools on campus who have done exemplary work throughout their time at the college.
Harpist and IC affiliate Anna O’Connell performed examples of therapeutic harp music during the Community-Based Learning Spotlight Event hosted by the Office of Civic Engagement and the Center for Faculty Excellence on April 4 in McHenry Lounge in the Whalen Center for Music. The event reintroduced the Music as Medicine Project and highlighted students’ work with the initiative.
