As Ithaca College students prepare for finals at the culmination of the school year, spring season student-athletes are preparing for the Liberty League Championship Tournament following the culmination of their regular seasons. The Ithacan has you prepared for what to know ahead of competition for the Spring 2026 hardware.
The Ithaca College softball team rolled to pitching-led victories in both legs of the doubleheader April 21 versus the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons. In game one, the Bombers grabbed an early 3-2 lead and held onto it for the rest of the contest. In game two, they survived a Red Dragons’ seventh inning rally to win 4-3.Â
The Ithaca College softball team stayed hot and went 3-1 in back-to-back doubleheaders April 11 and 12, with two wins over the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a split with Skidmore College. IC improved to 14-7 overall and now sits in second place in the Liberty League standings.
The Ithaca College softball team experienced a handful of ups and downs April 8 in a doubleheader against the Nazareth University Golden Flyers. After a crushing 14-10 loss in game one, the Bombers rallied to steal the win 6-5 in game two. With the split, the Bombers moved to 11-6 on the season while the Golden Flyers moved to 10-8.Â

While club and varsity sports operate as independent units, participants are all athletes on one campus. As a Division III school, opportunities arise for club athletes to play on a bigger field, and vice versa. For senior lacrosse goalkeeper Nichole Allan, the chance did not come until her final semester at Ithaca College.Â
The Ithaca College softball team is coming off its best season since 2019, making it all the way to the Division III postseason tournament in May 2025 before falling to Texas Lutheran University in the Regional round. This time around, it looks to return to the tournament and potentially advance even further. Â
The Ithaca College baseball team ended the 2025 season with a heartbreaking loss to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers on May 11 at Booth Field. After a 16-6 loss May 10, the Bombers fought to protect their Liberty League Championship Tournament title, but they were unable to find their groove and fell 4-1.
The Ithaca College softball team closed a historic season on a high note with a doubleheader against the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers on May 3 at Kostrinsky Field. The Bombers swept the Tigers 12-0 in five innings and 5-1 in seven.
For many athletes, getting into a Division I program means they have made it. They gain access to cutting edge facilities, experienced coaches and a path to the pros. For junior softball player Cate Murray, D-I was not the right fit.
The Ithaca College softball team tallied two Liberty League wins against the St. Lawrence University Saints on April 19. An early start time and multiple rain delays did not deter the team as it defeated the Saints 5-3 and 10-2.
The Ithaca College softball team witnessed history in the making in a doubleheader against its Liberty League Championship Tournament rival, the Clarkson University Golden Knights, on April 18. Senior pitcher Anna Cornell broke IC’s career strikeout record — the first player to do so in over 20 years.Â
The Ithaca College softball team faced a rollercoaster of emotions April 4 in a doubleheader against the Union College Garnet Chargers. The Bombers entered the matchup with a 22-1 all-time record against the Garnet Chargers, with their last loss being in 2003. They defended their record with a 10-0, five-inning win in game one, but fell 2-1 to the Garnet Chargers in game two.
