An amazing season of Ithaca College women’s basketball came to a heartbreaking conclusion as the Bombers fell to the Vassar College Brewers 66-53 in the Liberty League Championship Tournament final on March 2 at the Ben Light Gymnasium.
The Ithaca College women’s basketball team is now one step closer to Liberty League Championship Tournament glory after its 64-48 semifinal victory over the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers on Feb. 28 at the Ben Light Gymnasium.
The women’s basketball team shot the lights out as they rolled into a Senior Day blowout, beating the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers 85-59 on Feb. 8 at the Ben Light Gymnasium.
On Feb. 7, the Ithaca College women’s basketball team secured its ninth straight victory, and many milestones were hit as the Bombers defeated the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds 62-40 for the second time in the 2024-2025 season. With the win, the Bombers clinched a spot in the Liberty League Championship Tournament Playoffs, improving their conference record to 11-1.
It was a game of interior dominance for the women’s basketball team, as the Bombers blew out the William Smith College Herons 60-45 on Jan. 31 at the Ben Light Gymnasium.
While the Ithaca College student and faculty body returned home for winter break, many varsity teams remained in action over the break. Basketball, swimming and diving, track and field, men’s wrestling and gymnastics all competed during the academic recess, putting up multiple impressive performances.
It was a fierce battle on opening night, but the Ithaca College women’s basketball team came up just short against the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons on Nov. 14, dropping the match 65-60.

On Sept. 13, Ithaca College women’s basketball legend Katherine Bixby ’10 was inducted into the Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame. However, the former All-American has continued to leave her mark on the women’s college basketball landscape, coaching at multiple levels. On Sept. 2 she accepted an assistant coaching position at the University of North Carolina.

For a large majority of college athletes, intercollegiate athletics is their final foray into the world of competitive sports before they enter the workforce. But for three of Ithaca College’s student-athletes, the workforce and professional sports became the same over the summer.
The Ithaca College women’s basketball team is now holding a record of 13–3 and have been dominating Liberty League play. Through that run, the Bombers’ staunch defensive effort has been on full display.
The Ithaca College women’s basketball team fought its way past the University of Rochester Yellowjackets in a 62–54 battle Dec. 6 en route to their sixth win of the season.
While “You Make My Dreams (Come True)” is far from a traditional victory song, Will Rothermel, former associate director of Athletics, said the energetic intro made it the perfect celebration song.
