The Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team overcame a four-point deficit to upset the No. 24 St. John Fisher Cardinals 15-11 on April 17 at Higgins Stadium to conclude their regular season at home. While club and varsity sports operate as independent units, participants are all athletes on one campus. As a Division III school, opportunities arise for club athletes to play on a bigger field, and vice versa. For senior lacrosse goalkeeper Nichole Allan, the chance did not come until her final semester at Ithaca College.Â

After fighting into double overtime, the No. 23 Ithaca College women’s lacrosse fell 15-14 to the University of Scranton Royals on March 7 at Higgins Stadium. The Bombers held a steady lead from the middle of the first quarter into the fourth quarter, but could not hang on to the No. 17 Division III team. The team’s first home game of 2026 also marked its first loss of the season.
It is officially the beginning of spring sports at Ithaca College, which marks the start of the Ithaca College women’s lacrosse 2026 season. The Bombers finished their 2025 season with a 14-7 overall record, earning them a spot in the NCAA Division III Championship after securing their second title as Liberty League Champions in back-to-back seasons. After going 7-3 in Liberty League play and advancing to NCAAs, the Bombers’ season ended when they lost in the second round to No. 2 Middlebury College 20-5.Â
The Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team was jumping with joy and dancing in the rain after defeating the Union College Garnet Chargers on May 4. Despite the heavy rain and fog, the Bombers fought hard and clawed their way to back-to-back Liberty League Championship Tournament titles. The win marked Ithaca’s second Liberty League title in program history.
A pendulum swings freely when it is put out of balance. If a pendulum is pulled to one side, it will swing back and forth until it has returned to equilibrium. The Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team gutted out a pendulum-like victory over the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers on May 2, thanks to a game-winning goal in the final minutes.
In its return to the postseason, the Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team played like the weather, with the offense striking like lightning and defeating the Vassar College Brewers 19-10 at Higgins Stadium.
The Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team rejoiced on Senior Day as it defeated the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds 19-11 April 26. The game marked the end of the regular season, with the Bombers holding a 10-6 overall and 7-3 in-conference record.
Ithaca College women’s lacrosse fell to the Hamilton College Continentals 17-11 April 22 in a highly contested match. The Continentals’ powerful offense, coupled with their suffocating defense, left the Bombers unable to overcome the deficit.
As the 2024-25 academic year comes to a close, the student-athletes of Ithaca College find themselves amid another season of spring sports. For several Bombers teams, they have looked toward first-year players for immediate contributions and their faith in recent recruits has been rewarded.Â
