The Ithaca Police Department said a hate crime suspect is no longer in the community. Anti-Semitic and racist posters and vandalism were found on local businesses.
“Whose pavilion? Our pavilion!” and “Black Lives Matter,” rang across the Bernie Milton Pavilion on The Commons in Ithaca on Oct. 24.

On Oct. 24, the Ithaca Democratic Socialists of America held a Festival Against Hate in response to a Back the Blue rally, resulting in a tense face-off.

Ithaca Police Department investigates Oct. 21 homicide

The Ithaca Police Department (IPD) is investigating a homicide that took place on the night of Oct. 21 on West State Street.
The protest, which lasted for five hours, was led by Ithaca’s chapter of Extinction Rebellion U.S., an organization that uses nonviolent civil disobedience to demand change. The group was protesting because of its concern that Chase Bank is financially supporting businesses linked to climate change and human rights abuses.

Ithaca police settles lawsuit with IC alum for $251,000

The City of Ithaca has paid an Ithaca College alum $251,000 to settle a federal lawsuit against the Ithaca Police Department. 
According to court documents, Ithaca police officer Jacob Allard allegedly sprayed Goldstein with pepper spray, causing injuries to both of his eyes and permanent damage to his right eye.

The Ithaca Police Department settled a lawsuit filed by an Ithaca College alum following his arrest in 2016. 
The Ithaca Police Department, along with several other agencies, ran an operation that caught 37 people using fake IDs in five bars across Ithaca. They included Moonies Bar & Nightclub, Silky Jones, Hideaway, Loco Cantina and Level B.

An Ithaca College alum is suing the Ithaca Police Department for mistreatment when he was allegedly illegally detained at a party in 2016.
The Ithaca Police Department received multiple reports from March 29 to 31 about druggings at bars on The Commons. The initial reports did not involve any students from Ithaca College, but two students from the college claimed they were drugged on April 5.
