The Ithaca College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced April 25 that longtime head athletic trainer Michael Matheny will be retiring at the end of the 2023–24 academic year.
With the 2024 season on the horizon, the Ithaca men’s lacrosse team has been preparing to enter a new era. After over 30 years at the helm, former head coach Jeff Long stepped down on June 1, 2023, and was replaced by Tommy Pearce.
The Tommy Pearce era has officially arrived in South Hill, with the new head coach of the Ithaca Bombers men’s lacrosse team opening up the season with a 12–10 victory over the St. John Fisher Cardinals on Feb. 25.Â

For nearly three years, junior Ryan LaForty, goalie for the Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team, did not start a game in the net, until a mid-game switch March 2.
The Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team’s seven-game win streak came to an end with a 14–10 loss to the St. Lawrence University Saints on April 2 at Higgins Stadium.
