Ithaca College’s public willingness to examine its own institutional relationship to race may be one of the hopeful signs of that change.

Roger Richardson, associate vice provost for diversity, inclusion and engagement, was hired in November 2015 to serve as the interim chief diversity officer. President Tom Rochon said he is reconsidering the position.

Ithaca College reconsiders chief diversity officer position

President Tom Rochon said he is considering other options for the position — to have one position or transform it into a council. He said he is relying on the Council of Diversity and Inclusion to make a recommendation on how he should proceed.
