Students discuss themes in Judaism through fellowship

Beginning Feb.17, members of Ithaca College’s Jewish community have been gathering through the Jewish Learning Fellowship.
IC Hillel, the Center for IDEAS and the college’s senior leadership collaborated to hold the “IC Day of Learning: Grappling with Antisemitism”  from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m Feb. 28 in Emerson Suites.

Day of learning held in response to antisemitism on campus

In between classes Feb. 28 the campus community engaged in an open dialogue about antisemitism in response to symbols of hate found on campus.  
Following the discovery of the first swastika in Baker Walkway, Interim President La Jerne Cornish sent an email to the campus community condemning the symbol Feb 4. After the second swastika was found in Whalen, the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management sent out an alert Feb. 8 to the campus community.

Since Feb. 3, two separate swastikas have been found drawn on the IC campus. Both are under investigation –– one as a potential vandalism hate crime.

Speakers share views on Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Experts on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict came to Ithaca College Sept. 17 to discuss perspectives on the conflict and the need for a resolution. 
The Student Alliance for Israel (SAFI) club and Hillel will host the first “IC Loves Israel Day” on  April 28 to celebrate Israeli culture. Some students were concerned about the title of the event.
