Luis Torres, Student Governance Council vice president of campus affairs, and Danielle Weinstein, vice president of communications, will step down at the end of the fall semester. Torres has been in the position since Feb. 29, while Weinstein was new to the SGC this semester, running on the IC Office Ticket.

The final day to complete the Campus Climate Survey is Oct. 28. For the survey results to be valid and released, 30 percent of the campus must complete it.

Faculty and staff are looking for ways to ramp up student interest in the college’s weekly diversity and inclusion discussion groups. These groups were created in response to student protests last fall to address complaints about the administration’s lack of emphasis on diversity and inclusion. However, students do not seem to be attending the discussion groups.
SGA President Marieme Foote brings a passion for social justice to the role of SGA president and said she hopes to continue the critique of the college that POC at IC began last fall, but in the context of the college’s governance structure.

The Ithaca College Student Government Association executive board has laid out two concrete subjects that it sees as important to pursue this year: Title IX and voter registration. The board is also emphasizing a more flexible approach to policies and issues it decides to take on based on what is important to students.
