On July 29, the college’s athletics department announced the addition of women’s wrestling to the varsity sport agenda. The team will begin competition in the 2025–26 season and will mark the 14th women’s sport offered on campus.

Newest varsity team expands field of women’s sports

Men’s wrestling aims to pin down a national championship

After sending five athletes to the NCAA National Championship meet in the 2023–24 season, the Ithaca College wrestling team is locked in this year as it strives to put enough individuals on the podium to win the long-eluded NCAA Division III Wrestling Team Championship — something the team has not secured since 1994.

Wrestling shows strong performances in the Ithaca Quad

The Ithaca College men’s wrestling team competed in the Ithaca Quad on Feb. 3, dominating in all three matches in a pinning frenzy. Throughout the three matches, the Bombers racked up 14 wins by fall.
The Ithaca College wrestling team has quietly strung together a streak of eight straight victories over the rival SUNY Cortland Red Dragons dating back to 2016. The Bombers and Red Dragons last meeting on Jan. 13 ended in a 43–2 Bombers' victory.

Every Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland student and alum knows about the historic Cortaca Jug football game that takes place every fall. However, the intense spectacle of the rivalry extends into other sports, including wrestling.

In-house coaching staff keeps Bombers wrestling connected

When the Ithaca College wrestling team returned to campus this fall, the practice room was more crowded than normal. However, there is still familiarity in the room — on top of the new athletes, there are five new assistant coaches, four of whom were athletes on the team last season.

IC wrestling named third-best D-III program of the last decade

As the Ithaca College wrestling team gets set for the NCAA Regional Tournament, it has been recognized for being the third-best Division III program by Rofkin Wrestling.

Three wrestlers take home New York State titles

As the Ithaca College wrestling team wrapped up the first half of the season, three members of the wrestling team brought home first place at the New York State Championships.
Senior Logan Ninos has suffered nine concussions and was told by his doctor to stop wrestling. He has remained a team captain, but has transitioned to an assistant coach for the team.
