On the fourth day of the long and intense Liberty League Championships which ran from Feb. 18 to Feb. 21, the Ithaca College men’s and women’s swimming and diving head coach Mike Blakely-Armitage ’00 found himself in a pool, clothed in full business attire and a tie.Â
The Ithaca College swimming and diving teams quashed the competition Feb. 21, securing two Liberty League titles and five program records in historic fashion.
With exciting new talent and experienced athletes gearing up for their swan song, the Ithaca College men’s swimming and diving team is eyeing the Liberty League title that continues to elude it.
During a week of fierce competition, the Ithaca College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams displayed remarkable dominance. The women’s team came up on top among nine teams, while the men’s team just missed first place, trailing the Rochester Institute of Technology by a mere 72 points.
On Oct. 14, the Ithaca College men’s swim and dive team returned to the pool, earning themselves a big win over the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Engineers and Hobart College Statesmen, with their sights set yet again on dethroning defending Liberty League champion, the Rochester Institute of Technology.
The Ithaca College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams hosted the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons at the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium on Nov. 5.
