A game for the ages: The Bombers win the 66th annual Cortaca Jug

With a buzzing crowd and an environment sprinkled with showers, the Ithaca College football team avenged the last two seasons and took down its arch rival, the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons, by a score of 26-21 in one of the most thrilling Cortaca games of all time.  
Juniors Colin Schumm and Mike Reed were backup quarterbacks in the 2024 season. Their athleticism allowed each of them to get playing time, even if it was not in their primary positions.

Football quarterbacks thrive in alternate positions

Ever since three-year starting quarterback A.J. Wingfield ’23 graduated from the Ithaca College football program, the team has brought in numerous quarterbacks to try to keep it moving forward. This has led to three starting quarterbacks in the past two seasons, all finding unique ways to contribute to wins on the field.

Bomber football bounces back with big win over Buffalo State

The Ithaca College football team rebounded strongly in a 49-7 thumping of the Buffalo State Bengals on Senior Day, Nov. 1 at Butterfield Stadium. The win keeps the Bombers’ hope of bringing home a Liberty League Championship title alive. 
In June 2023, Chenango Contracting began the construction of Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium, a donor-funded artificial turf field. Ithaca College was granted a temporary certificate of occupancy Sept. 15, deeming the field usable.

On Nov. 29, 2022, Ithaca College announced its plans to upgrade its natural grass football field to artificial turf. Just under a year later, the Ithaca College football team is preparing to compete on Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium for the first time.
