After the Ithaca College women’s soccer team won the Liberty League Championship Tournament and made a run to the NCAA semifinals in 2024, one of the most important questions of the offseason was who would replace star goalkeeper Grace Hickey ’25. This fall, sophomore Katrina Varnum has been making her case to be the one.
The Ithaca College women’s soccer team fell 1-0 to the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers on Oct. 21 at Carp Wood Field. A miraculous goal from RIT junior midfielder Lindsay Ford less than 15 minutes into the game was enough to defeat a tough Bomber squad. The Bomber’s struggles in front of goals stuck out in a game where the team created an abundance of chances but were unable to score.Â
The changing of the guard is an important step in determining the future of a program. For a department with a rich history such as the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Ithaca College, the search for the next athletic director is underway with a deadline of July 1, according to the athletics department.Â
On a rainy, windy and muddy day, the Ithaca College women’s soccer team managed to slip by the William Smith College Herons on Nov. 10, winning 3-2 in a penalty shootout to claim the Liberty League Championship.Â

Graduate student midfielder Sarah Sinnott came to Ithaca College after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh to obtain her masters in mental performance, with a concentration in sports psychology. She became a standout player for the Bombers’ women's soccer team, bringing her experience and the force of Division I play to the Division III field.Â
The Ithaca College women’s soccer team scored another three points in the Liberty League in its win against the William Smith College Herons. The first goal was scored within ten minutes of the start, but the rest of the game remained scoreless.
The Ithaca College women’s soccer team took back its field Sept. 28 in its game against the Bard College Raptors at Carp Wood Field. The Bombers outshot Bard 35 to one, winning with ease 7-0.

Despite dominating almost every facet of the Sept. 17 game, the Ithaca College women’s soccer team drew 0-0 against the Alfred University Saxons at Carp Wood Field.
The Ithaca College women’s soccer team faced off against the No. 24 SUNY Cortland Red Dragons. The game was energetic, with both sides showcasing impressive offensive and defensive maneuvers while the fans watched with bated breath. Graduate student midfielder Sarah Sinnott scored twice in a 2-0 win for the Bombers.
