Editorial: Muller Chapel must be a space for all students

For many students across campus, faith is a central part of their daily life, identity and being. Muller Chapel has the potential to act as a space for growing this faith. Furthermore, it should be a space for students to gain a sense of community and comfort, no matter what they believe. The college must continue to invest in programming for all faiths at Muller Chapel to create a stronger sense of community and acceptance on campus.
Chaplin Yasin Ahmed, director of Religious and Spiritual Life at Ithaca College, presided over the memorial service that was held for sophomore Shea Colbert Sept. 13 in Muller Chapel. Colbert's friends, sophomores Paige Turcotte and Liam Whelan, spoke at the memorial and encouraged those who were grieving Colbert's passing to not be sad because Colbert would not have wanted that. 

College community mourns death of student at memorial

Rain fell over the Muller Chapel on Sept. 13 as members of the Ithaca College community gathered to remember sophomore Shea Colbert, who died unexpectedly in a car accident Sept. 10.
At the age of 85, Hannah Wechsler is one of the few older adults still alive who survived the Holocaust — and are willing to talk about it. Wechsler has told her story thousands of times — to children, teenagers and college students across America. As of 2020, there are only 400,000 living Holocaust survivors.

For Spring 2022, there is a one-credit meditation class offered called Meditation: It's Not What You Think, where students learn about different practices of meditation.
Scott Fried, an HIV and AIDS activist, said he plans to further speak about his personal experience with HIV, as well as discuss his personal guidelines for surviving life on Nov. 10 and 11. Fried also plans to speak at a talk-back for a preview of RENT, hosted by the Department of Theatre Arts on Nov. 10. Ithaca College Theatre is putting on a production of RENT during the 2021–22 season. The show is running from Nov. 13 to 18. 

HIV and AIDS activist shares powerful message with IC community

Religious groups continue to create community amid pandemic

Although the college is open for both online and in-person instruction for Spring 2021, religious organizations continue to meet virtually.
Prior to the pandemic, Anne Stork, assistant professor in the Ithaca College Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences, led qi gong practices in Muller Chapel every Thursday. Throughout the summer and continuing into the fall semester, Stork has instructed online qi gong sessions.
