The Ithaca College contingent faculty unions have announced they will hold an on-campus vote Feb.13–14 to authorize a strike.
About 35 part- and full-time contingent faculty members and students at Ithaca College attended a teach-in presented by members of the contingent faculty union on Sept. 6 to hear updates on their experiences at the college and the unionization process.
Full-time contingent faculty members at Ithaca College have voted to form a union with Service Employees International Union Local 200United, according to a press release issued May 24. They elected to unionize in a 23–13 vote out of 47 eligible voters, said Zeke Perkins, organizer for SEIU Local 200United.
Members of the Ithaca College administration have denied a request by full-time contingent faculty to join the existing part-time faculty union.
Faculty Council has decided to create a task force to gather more information after a group of part-time faculty spoke to the council about issues with negotiating their union contract with the Ithaca College administration.

A petition is being circulated among Ithaca College full-time faculty asking the administration to edit the union election informational website it created to be more in line with the statement that the college is “neither anti-union nor pro-union,” which the college claims on the same website. As of 8 p.m. Thursday the petition was signed by 105 people.
Ithaca College part-time faculty filed their petition with the National Labor Relations Board to unionize April 15.
