On July 29, the college’s athletics department announced the addition of women’s wrestling to the varsity sport agenda. The team will begin competition in the 2025–26 season and will mark the 14th women’s sport offered on campus.

Newest varsity team expands field of women’s sports

This fall, Ithaca College became the first institution in the Liberty League to take the next step in expanding women’s sports. 
Derek Slywka made history as the college’s first alum in nearly 60 years to sign an NFL contract. However on Sept. 24, it was announced that Slywka had signed with the CFL's Toronto Argonauts after being waived by the Indianapolis Colts.

From Division III football to the big leagues, former All-American safety Derek Slywka’s football journey took a turn, landing him on the radar of the NFL and ultimately signing with the Canadian Football League’s Toronto Argonauts.

Graduate student midfielder Sarah Sinnott came to Ithaca College after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh to obtain her masters in mental performance, with a concentration in sports psychology. She became a standout player for the Bombers’ women's soccer team, bringing her experience and the force of Division I play to the Division III field.

This past summer, the Ithaca College men’s basketball team’s senior guard Logan Wendell took his talents overseas and played internationally in Brazil, representing the U.S. in the Division III All-Stars.
