Over the years Ithaca College succeeded in its efforts to create a stronger community for transgender and queer students.
Sophomore Julia Stitely is a co-creator and producer of the ICTV show Fathoms Below. They give their perspective on trans and non-binary characters in media being portrayed by cis gendered actors. They call for change and explain how their personal experiences has granted them a unique perspective.

Most trans stories are told from a cis perspective. Trans acceptability is too often based on how easily interpretable their gender is to a cis person.
Female saxaphonist, composer, bandleader, educator and activist Roxy Coss is known for her work promoting women’s place in jazz music. Coss will be performing with the jazz ensemble at the college Feb. 27.
