Ithaca is a city with a range of sustainable transportation options; Ithaca Bikeshare, Ithaca Carshare and the Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit bus system all provide sustainable, accessible options for the community.

SGC discusses climate-sensible goals and platforms

The college has purchased all of the solar power generated from a solar farm in Seneca to offset electricity use since 2016.

College receives Gold rating for sustainability performance

Eco-Reps plan for major outreach after a year of struggles

Environmental efforts at IC are deteriorating, according to campus members who have experienced a lack of staffing support in sustainability efforts.

The Ithaca College Eco-Reps will be rolling out the Green Room Certification program to increase sustainability on an individual level on campus.

The Office of Energy Management and Sustainability should be applauded for the work it has done to accelerate the college’s progress toward its goal.
According to Second Nature, the organization the college reports its carbon data to, the college emitted a total gross of 23,673 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2e) in 2017.

College’s carbon footprint projected to decline 45 percent

At the All-College Gathering on Aug. 23, Ithaca College President Shirley M. Collado announced that the college’s carbon footprint is projected to drop by 45 percent this academic year. This decrease in overall carbon output is part of the college’s previous pledge to be completely carbon neutral by the year 2050.
The Office of Energy Management and Sustainability will be installing new lighting fixtures and controls in the Center for Natural Sciences to make the building more energy efficient.
