Effort begins to change street name to honor Mandela

Freshman Sophia Conger, Gabby Malave and Jaylen Young have begun organizing an effort to rename Plain Street, Nelson Mandela Street to honor the former South African president’s passing in December 2013.
IC Pay It Forward passed out cards with compliments and friendly messages written on them  during its rush night Feb. 5. The club aims to influence the community with acts of kindness.

IC Pay it Forward, a new club on campus, strives to positively influence the community by helping others and encouraging them to pass it on.
On December 5, 2013, activists for the Tompkins County Workers Center and Cornell Organization for Labor Action (COLA) gathered at McDonalds for a flash mob in protest of low wages.
