On Sept. 18, Ithaca College students and community members danced and sang along to music emanating from the porches of local artists. Bands such as Whiskey Priests and PIPERVENTILATORS participated in the festival throughout the day.

The Ithaca community sacrifices its porches to all kinds of musicians for the towns annual celebration of Porch Fest.

Film reflects Porchfest spirit

Gossa Tsegaye, assistant professor of television-radio at Ithaca College, has completed close to 75 documentaries in his career. For his latest documentary, “Porchfest: Celebrating the Spirit of a Community Through Music,” Tsegaye worked with eight students to film the five-year-old festival Sept. 25 in which bands used downtown porches as their stages.
