Ithaca College hides behind a thin veil of equity

My sexuality was becoming the forefront of what people wanted to know about me, and I was being forced to think about it more and more, even though I didn’t want to.
The college is a predominantly white institution, with 3,795 white students enrolled during Fall 2021, while there are 1,223 students of color enrolled, according to AIR. Laurie Koehler, vice president for Marketing and Enrollment Strategy, Nicole Eversley Bradwell, executive director of Admission and Shana Gore, executive director of Student Financial Services said they were concerned by the recent downturn in enrollment of Black, Indigenous and students of color (BIPOC), and that it reflected a national downtrend.

College community unsatisfied by students of color enrollment

The number of students of color at the college have fluctuated over the past five years, according to the Office of Analytics and Institutional Research.
At the All Student and Family Gathering on March 25, La Jerne Cornish, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, announced that the college is planning to be fully open for Fall 2021.
