During Fall 2023, Ithaca College students have continued to test positive for COVID-19 but have found themselves at a loss for what to do next. The college has discontinued its quarantine housing options and support services, which is less than ideal for the communal living that college promotes.

Ithaca College put an end to its remaining COVID-19 infrastructure and policies, like testing locations and dedicated quarantine spaces, May 31.
Boothroyd Hall will continue to serve as an isolation housing space for residential students for the rest of the fall semester. It will also continue to offer free COVID-19 testing. However, Samm Swarts, assistant director for Emergency Preparedness and Response, said that if COVID-19 cases rise and there is no space in Boothroyd, the college will allow students to isolate in their assigned residence hall rooms.

College updates vaccine guidance and COVID-19 procedures

Ithaca College has updated some of its COVID-19 protocols and is encouraging members of the campus community to get vaccinated for both the flu and COVID-19. 
First-year student Hannah Wagner, tested positive in her dorm Aug. 25. After she tested positive again at Boothroyd Hall the next morning, she was instructed to return to her dorm, pack a bag and wait to be notified when an isolation room became available.

Spike in COVID-19 cases at college impacts isolation spaces

At the peak of the spike Aug. 25, the college’s online COVID-19 Tracking Dashboard reported 55 student cases, which exceeded Boothroyd Hall’s 40 isolation rooms.

IC releases campus COVID-19 policies for Fall 2022

IC announced its COVID-19 policies for Fall 2022 including required testing for move-in but surveillance testing will not be required for any individuals.
In a campus-wide email June 14, Bonnie Prunty, vice president for Student Affairs and Campus Life, announced that the partnership will continue the relationship that the college has formed with CHS and improve student health services. 

Cold and flu season creates confusion with COVID-19
