Students hold event to discuss ways to address racism at IC

The Ithaca College SGC and the Students of Color Coalition (SOCC) hosted the Stand for Justice webinar Oct. 6 to discuss ways to address racism at the college.
President Shirley M. Collado explained the decision to make classes online for Fall 2020 during the gathering, saying the public health risks regarding the COVID-19 pandemic would be too high if students were to return to campus.

A substantial portion of the campus community witnessed the powerful escalation of the “Addressing Community Action on Racism and Cultural Bias” event Oct. 27. Students, faculty, staff and administrators understood there would be a big event. They understood there would be a potential for controversy. But perhaps nobody understood what the event would be — and what it should be — better than the POC at IC group.
