First-ever Eid Bazaar celebrated in Emerson Suites

The Ithaca College Muslim Student Association (MSA) organized its first-ever Eid Bazaar on March 23 in Emerson Suites. About 30 to 40 students attended the Bazaar, where they enjoyed Mediterranean and Jamaican food, bought jewelry and got free henna tattoos done by a professional artist.

Ramadan is one of the five “pillars of Islam,” the others being daily prayer, declaration of faith, alms-giving and the pilgrimage to Mecca.

Ramadan is a month observed by Muslims to be closer to their faith by participating in rituals, like fasting from sunrise to sunset, reading the Quran — which is the primary Islamic text — as well as celebrating iftar, a meal served during Ramadan following sunset each day.
