After the recent release of Disney’s “Raya and the Last Dragon,” there has been speculation among fans as to whether or not the titular character will become the company’s next Disney Princess.

While the triumph of “Raya and the Last Dragon” does not dismiss Disney’s deep, dirty history of racial inequity, it is a massive step in the right direction.
