Beginning in Fall 2025, all incoming first-year students will pick a themed residential community to live in with other students with similar interests. There will be 11 themes to choose from, including Sustainability Central, Study Sanctuary, Naturally Adventurous and one for the LGBTQ+ community called Lavender Living.

In the 2025-26 academic year, residential life will see a significant change. All incoming first-year students will be put into themed living units to foster more community between students in residence halls.

SGC discusses Fall 2025 housing changes

The Ithaca College Student Governance Council met Feb. 3 to discuss upcoming changes to first-year student housing selection for Fall 2025.  SGC was joined by Stanley Bazile, vice president of Student Affairs and Campus Life; Laura Davis, director and interim assistant dean of Students in the Office of Residential Life; and Eileen Roth, assistant director for Residential Education and Assessment in Res Life.
Senior Linnea Carchedi has found several issues with the substance-free options  on Ithaca College’s campus. She asks that the college keep their promises in the future.

Next semester East Tower will be home to the First Place and Language House residential learning communities and a sophomore living space. The college currently has 10 RLCs.

After having only five students apply to participate in the Sustainably Conscious Living Residential Learning Community next year, the Office of Residential Life has decided to cancel the community.
