During the 2024 season, the Ithaca College baseball team has dealt with persistent weather delays. The South Hill Squad has played only three games on Freeman Field thus far, compared to the 10 originally scheduled.

Fielding the unpredictable: Ithaca College baseball’s continuous weather struggle

With upstate New York weather being as unpredictable as it is, the Ithaca College baseball team has had to make numerous adjustments this season to accommodate a weather-intolerant field. Freeman Field is a natural dirt and grass field, not a synthetic surface, which means it cannot be plowed or played on while wet.

Rowing surges into the spring season at the Cayuga Duels

The Ithaca College women’s and men’s rowing teams squared off with multiple New York state foes at the Cayuga Duels on March 30 at the Cayuga Inlet. 
The Ithaca College baseball and softball teams take long road trips each season. Neither team will return to its home field until baseball returns March 22 and softball returns March 23.

Members of Ithaca College’s softball and baseball teams will have to wait a few weeks into the season to enjoy home-field advantage, but that will not stop players from making the most of the start of the season.

New faces add extra man advantage to men’s lacrosse

With the 2024 season on the horizon, the Ithaca men’s lacrosse team has been preparing to enter a new era. After over 30 years at the helm, former head coach Jeff Long stepped down on June 1, 2023, and was replaced by Tommy Pearce.

Women’s basketball bounces back by defeating the Tigers to advance to the Liberty League semi-finals

The Ithaca College women's basketball team were victorious in the Liberty League quarterfinals contest, defeating the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers by a score of 78–59 on Feb. 20.
Mike Blakely-Armitage '00, the head men's and women's swimming and diving coach, has put a stronger emphasis on team culture outside of the pool this season. Blakely-Armitage replaced long-time head coach Kevin Markwardt after 36 seasons.

The Ithaca College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have recently moved on from two longtime coaches. This season, with new voices in leadership, the Bombers have continued to have success in the pool while also placing an emphasis on success outside the pool.

Men’s basketball miss playoffs for first time since 2016-17 season with loss to Brewers

The Ithaca College men’s basketball team squared off against the Vassar College Brewers on Senior Day Feb. 17 at Ben Light Gymnasium. The Bombers fell 79-78 in the last minute of the game and gave their final goodbyes to senior guards Andrew Geschickter, Triston Wennersten, Noah Downing and Blake Haber.

Women’s basketball drops regular season finale to Brewers

The Ithaca College women’s basketball team was defeated 66–59 by the Vassar College Brewers on Feb.17 in their final regular season game, snapping a five-game winning streak.

Men’s basketball falls short in last minute against RIT

The Ithaca College men’s basketball team lost 84–83 against The Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers on Feb. 6 at Ben Light Gymnasium, in a game that went until the last possession, with the Tigers getting two game winning free-throws.

Bombers show up big in fall sports season

Women’s swim and dive sets the tone under new leadership

Since 2017, Ithaca College athletics has competed as a member of the Liberty League. During this time, the college has won several Liberty League Championships across every sport in every season. The women’s swimming and diving program is one of those perennial championship teams and this season, they are looking to win their fifth straight Liberty League title.
