At Ithaca College, and in many other communications programs, it is not uncommon to find that women outnumber men in journalism classes. However, these trends are not reflected in the field of communications’ job market.

Ithaca College predicts drop in applicant pool

As Ithaca College predicts a drop in its applicant pool by about 1,700 students for the 2015–16 academic year, the Office of Admission is employing new strategies for reaching out to accepted students to encourage them to enroll, while individual schools strengthen their current tactics.
Leslie Kelly, manager of Student Accessibility Services, said the new online streamlined process provides a direct link between students requesting accommodations and their professors.

Ithaca College releases online test accommodations form

Spring semester at Ithaca College offers a new experience for transfer students and a small group of first-semester freshman.
Carol Jennings, advisor for The Studio in the Roy H. Park School of Communications, said she wanted The Studio to become self-sustaining. The Studio produced its first film over the summer.

Google Glass makes its way into IC classrooms and student research

Ithaca College faculty have owned Google Glass for no longer than a year and have already begun using it for major advances in education and health. Both the Roy H. Park School of Communications and the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance are working on new uses for Google Glass within the classroom, as well as outside of the college.

Ithaca College considers drone use in academic setting

Four glossy, white, plastic rotor blades propel its 40-ounce frame, complete with a camera capable of shooting video or taking still photographs up to 100 meters in the air. It can cost as little as $200, but using one for commercial purposes can result in a $10,000 fine.
