Junior Rishabh Sen was reelected as the president of the student body after running unopposed with 282 votes and 28 votes of no confidence, which means that the voter chose to abstain from voting for that candidate.

SGC shares election results for the 2025-26 academic year

Six candidates were elected to the Ithaca College Student Governance Council's executive board and nine candidates were elected to senate for the 2025-26 academic year.
The Ithaca College Student Governance Council was joined by Emily Rockett, vice president, general counsel and secretary to the Board of Trustees, who discussed the legal implications of ongoing federal actions regarding higher education.

The Ithaca College Student Governance Council met April 28 for its last meeting with its current members. SGC was joined by Emily Rockett, vice president, general counsel and secretary to the Board of Trustees, who discussed the legal implications of ongoing federal actions regarding higher education.
Junior Rishabh Sen, president of the student body, ran for re-election unopposed. Like the other candidates, he gave a platform presentation stating who he was and what he wanted to achieve in the job.

SGC holds platform presentations for executive board and senate candidates

The Ithaca College Student Governance Council held its platform presentations for candidates running for SGC executive board and senator positions for the 2025-26 academic year.
SGC heard from David Weil, vice president and chief analytics officer, and Casey Kendall, deputy chief information officer and associate vice president of applications and infrastructure about upcoming technological developments on campus.

SGC holds open house to hear student feedback

The Ithaca College Student Governance Council hosted an open house April 14 instead of a regular meeting session. SGC recorded that 75 students came to learn about the council, share concerns, participate in a raffle and eat from an Indian buffet. 
Ithaca College President La Jerne Cornish met with the college’s Student Governance Council at its March 31 meeting to hear and address student concerns, including about the college’s budget deficit and pushback on the college and higher education by the federal government.

Rakin “Rock” Hall, vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Success, met with the Ithaca College Student Governance Council at its March 3 meeting to discuss the college’s plans to increase future enrollment.
Melanie Stein, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, told the council that beginning in Fall 2026, the college’s academic calendar will include a three-day Thanksgiving break — Wednesday, Thursday and Friday — to replace the traditional five-day break.

Melanie Stein, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, met with the Ithaca College Student Governance Council at its Feb. 10 meeting to discuss upcoming changes to the college’s academic calendar, scheduling grid and the Academic Policy Committee. SGC also heard from Cliff-Simon Vital, interim director of the BIPOC Unity Center, about this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Campus-Wide Celebration Week, held Feb. 10-16.

SGC discusses Fall 2025 housing changes

The Ithaca College Student Governance Council met Feb. 3 to discuss upcoming changes to first-year student housing selection for Fall 2025.  SGC was joined by Stanley Bazile, vice president of Student Affairs and Campus Life; Laura Davis, director and interim assistant dean of Students in the Office of Residential Life; and Eileen Roth, assistant director for Residential Education and Assessment in Res Life.
Junior Caleb Cackowski, vice president of communications, said he wants the council to have a stronger presence on campus — a goal that SGC has continually strived for. He suggested holding more events like the SGC’s Fall 2024 Town Hall to achieve improved campus outreach.
