SAG and WGA Strike

With the Screen Actors Guild going on strike Friday, July 14 at midnight after negotiations with major studios failed, all Hollywood production has officially shut down — the first time both SAG-AFTRA and the WGA have gone on strike together since 1960. And the studios ultimately have no one to blame but themselves for the inevitable consequences.
Jack Powers, Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School interim dean, announced his support of the IATSE on Sept. 27 on the Park School of Communications Instagram account. IATSE was founded in 1893 when stagehand representatives met in New York City and pledged to support fair wages and working conditions for all of their members.

In the basement of the Peggy Ryan Williams Center at 11:15 p.m., the contingent faculty unions were at first silent, some faculty in disbelief.
