SGC welcomed three guest speakers, discussed a new bill and appointed a new vice president of communications at its meeting Nov. 14.

First-year student Nicole Sutera is running for the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance senator on the platform of building community and collaboration after the School of Music and the Department of Theatre Arts merged to create the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance in July.

SGC president position to remain unfilled for Spring 2022

SGC has decided to leave the position of president unfilled for Spring 2022 following junior Deontae Guy’s resignation from the position in November 2021. 
The Student Governance Council (SGC) is in the research phase for several bills like a physical and mental health day bill, a bill that would extend library hours, a dining bill and an initiative to update the Improved Campus Lighting Bill.

Common Council Representative Laura Lewis was assigned as acting mayor by former mayor Svante Myrick. Lewis will be retaining her vote and seat on the Common Council as the Fifth Ward alderperson until the next election.
