SGC passes six bills including Green New Deal

The Ithaca College Student Governance Council (SGC) passed six bills and met with two student organizations at its April 26 meeting.
The SGC board consists of sophomore Deontae Guy as president of the SGC, juniors Carlos Abreu as vice president of academic affairs and Leticia Guibunda as vice president of campus affairs, freshman Mely Megahed Ramadan as vice president of business and finance and freshman James Zampetti as vice president of communications. 

SGC executive board and senate elected for 2021–22 academic year

ICRevival has been elected as the SGC executive board for the 2021–22 academic year, and seven SGC senators were also elected in the spring elections.
One executive board presented its platform and seven students ran for positions in the SGC senate at the platform presentations. ICRevival is the only group running for the incoming SGC executive board.

Prospective SGC board members present platforms

The Ithaca College SGC held platform presentations April 12 for the prospective SGC executive board and senate for the 2021–22 academic year.
The SGC also passed the Executive Board Attendance Policy Amendment with a vote of 14–0 with no abstentions. 

SGC discusses COVID-19 and end-of-the-year celebrations

The Ithaca College Student Governance Council (SGC) discussed COVID-19 safety nearing the end of the spring semester at its April 5 meeting. 
The SGC expressed its dissatisfaction with the college’s response to anti-Asian violence during its March 22 meeting. Senior Agnes Scotti, Class of 2021 senator, said she does not feel that a statement is enough to address the issue of racism.

The Executive Session Amendment provides clarification for the procedures for the executive session, which limits the attendance to only senate and executive board members of the SGC.

Club sports worry about decrease in funding

The Ithaca College Presidential Search Committee has announced that it has picked an executive search firm to use in the search for the 10th president of the college.
