The Ithaca College Presidential Search Committee has announced that it has picked an executive search firm to use in the search for the 10th president of the college.

Meetings about college’s financial status open to students

InFinity Presentations, which are meetings about the financial status of Ithaca College, are now open to students.
The Student Governance Council passed the Dean’s Student Council Recommendation, which recommends that the deans of all five schools at the college create a Dean’s Student Council. Currently, only the School of Music and School of Business have student councils.

The Student Governance Council passed the Dean’s Student Council Recommendation and the Senate Chair Qualifications and Selection Process Updates amendment.
The virtual open-conversation session was led by David Lissy ’87, chair of the board of trustees, and James Nolan ’77, vice chair of the board of trustees. About 55 people attended the event.

Board of Trustees discusses faculty and program cuts

The Board of Trustees provided feedback on the Academic Program Prioritization process and discussed the college’s financial health and enrollment strategy at its February meeting.
At the All Student and Family Gathering on March 25, La Jerne Cornish, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, announced that the college is planning to be fully open for Fall 2021.

The SGC passed three bills — one creating a new committee for the SGC and two focusing on requirements for student organizations at the college.
At the Faculty Council meeting Oct. 6, La Jerne Cornish, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, said that approximately 130 faculty members at the college will be cut and that entire departments may be discontinued in part due to decreased student enrollment.

SGC passed the Fall 2020 Tuition Transparency Request Bill, the 60 Calendar Day Title IX Recommendation Bill, the Rent College Pads Recommendation and the Constitutional Resignation Policy Amendment.
Ted Schiele, planner and evaluator for the Tompkins County Health Department, said he has been working with students and faculty at the college since 2015 to implement a ban on tobacco products, like cigarettes, hookahs and vape pens, across the entire campus.

Speaker encourages SGC to write bill to ban smoking at IC

IC Votes is a new initiative at Ithaca College that works to get members of the college community to register to vote and to help fill out absentee ballots. The initiative began March 2 and will continue until the general election in November.

IC Votes is a new initiative at Ithaca College that works to get members of the college community to register to vote and to help fill out absentee ballots.
Bill Kerry, director of the Ithaca College Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management, said that development for the app began in Fall 2019 and that it should be completed during Spring 2020. He also said that in addition to the Public Safety office, Information Technology and the Office of College Communications helped to develop the app too.
