The Ithaca College Faculty Council met for the first time for the 2022–23 academic year Sept. 6 and discussed issues covered throughout the 2021-22 academic year. These included shared governance, student retention rates, benefits and faculty morale.

Faculty Council talks morale, benefits and student retention

At the first faculty council meeting of the 2022-23 academic year, the council discussed ongoing issues from the 2021-22 academic year and future plans.
Members of Faculty Council were able to share their concerns and questions about the changes made to their dental plan that was enacted this year, elected the executive committee and held an executive session for about an hour at its final meeting of the semester. Both the 2021–22 and 2022–23 faculty council members were present for the meeting. 

Faculty Council discusses college’s retention rates

During the Ithaca College Faculty Council's meeting, methods to increase the college's retention rates were discussed.
Laurie Koehler, vice president of marketing and enrollment strategy, spoke to the Ithaca College Faculty Council about improving retention rates at the college at its meeting Dec. 3.  The college admitted 10,326 students and enrolled 1,506 freshman students for the 2019–20 academic year.
