Free throws fuel St. John Fisher’s 73-67 win over women’s basketball

The St. John Fisher University Cardinals’ relentless march to the free-throw line proved to be the dagger for the Ithaca College women’s basketball team, as the Cardinals cashed in on 79% of their 34 attempts to secure a hard-fought 73-67 victory.

On Sept. 14, also known as National Field Hockey Day, spectators were given the gift of a top-20 matchup, and that matchup did not disappoint. The No. 17 Ithaca College Field Hockey team took down the No. 9 team in Division III, York College, with just one lethal penalty corner to start the game — and end it — at 1-0.

The Ithaca College women’s basketball team fought its way past the University of Rochester Yellowjackets in a 62–54 battle Dec. 6 en route to their sixth win of the season.

Volleyball caps off home invitational with 3–0 victory

The Ithaca College volleyball team capped off the three-game slate Sept. 16 by sweeping the Susquehanna University River Hawks in three sets, 25–17, 25–19 and 25–18. The Bombers improved to a creditable 7–3 record after the win. 
George Valesente announced his retirement after 41 seasons as the Bombers' head baseball coach. Valesente never had a losing season during his tenure.
