The Liberty League announced March 1 that there will be athletic competition this spring after canceling fall and winter sports for the 2020–21 academic year.
Athletes are constantly told that they are examples and role models for the communities around them, and that is never more true than in cases of athlete activism.
The Liberty League has canceled winter athletic competition because of the COVID-19 pandemic. All of IC’s winter sports will be affected by this decision.
The SUNY Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced in October that it will not be competing in winter sports this upcoming season.
COVID-19 is not an excuse for Title IX compliance to be pushed aside. IC needs to prioritize equity for its women athletes when making these decisions.
IC is planning for winter sports seasons to be condensed to Liberty League competition only. Official announcement will be made in November.

Ithaca College and Liberty League have suspended intercollegiate athletics for the Fall 2020 season due to COVID-19 safety concerns.
The Liberty League decided July 7 to resume athletics this fall. The plan stated that fall athletics will begin no earlier than Sept. 26.
Ithaca College’s first fall sports practice will not be held Aug. 10 despite the NCAA Division III Administrative Committee’s decision on the matter.
