Commentary: Students need free public transportation

Free public transportation that runs at all hours allows students to feel safe knowing there is a reliable public transportation service running in the area.
The college currently has a bus shelter near the Peggy Ryan Williams Center (PRW), but after receiving student feedback, decided to install another shelter outside of Park Hall.

New bus shelter outside Park Hall to be installed this fall

Ithaca College is planning to install a bus shelter outside of Roy H. Park Hall. The decision was made after students requested the shelter.
Ithaca College will not be making any changes to its mask guidelines for the remainder of the spring semester.

The Tompkins County Health Department announced possible COVID-19 exposures at the Ithaca Ale House in Ithaca and on the TCAT Route 32 bus.

TCAT adds two new routes to South Hill area

The Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit Incorporated (TCAT) has added two new supplemental routes — the 11S and the 11N — to the South Hill area.

TCAT recovers from delays caused by staffing and maintenance issues

The TCAT canceled a number of trips on high-frequency routes throughout March due to an aging fleet of buses and other complications.

SGC discusses religious holidays bill and changes to TCAT route

The SGC tabled a bill proposal for Jewish holiday accommodations and hosted a Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit focus group at its Nov. 12 meeting.
Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit is currently re-evaluating its services after a decrease in ridership on multiple routes, including Route 11. This evaluation may result in a reduced bus schedule for Route 11, one of two bus routes that has stops on Ithaca Colleges campus.

TCAT looks into reducing Route 11 services

Ithaca College students may see a decrease in Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit Route 11 services as a result of decreased ridership on the route.
TCAT received a grant from the Federal Transit Administration through the Low or No Emission Vehicle Program — established in 2016 — to invest in electric buses. TCAT is the only bus system in New York to be awarded the grant, receiving a total of $2.29 million.

TCAT receives grant for energy efficient buses

Thanks to a newly received grant, Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit announced Aug. 24 that it will have energy efficient buses operating on and off the Ithaca College campus in two years.
