Despite increasing awareness of the widespread issue of sexual violence, the college has had increasing numbers of Violence Againt Women Acts (VAWA) reported to Title IX recently. According to the AFSR, the college recorded 11 reports of on-campus rape in 2017, 13 in 2018, 14 in 2019, 10 in 2020.

Campus community comments on proposed Title IX changes

Members of the Ithaca College community came together to write comments Jan. 24 in response to the proposed changes to Title IX.
The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report at Ithaca College showed that eight rapes were reported in 2017. In 2016, there were five rapes reported, and in 2014, there were four.

Increase in rape reporting deemed shift in culture

With sexual assault awareness month’s coming to a close, students and administrators at Ithaca College are saying the college can improve its sexual assault education by making the college’s resources more accessible and driving a more effective conversation on campus.
