Ithaca College has conducted routine shelter-in-place drills and installed a new Emergency Notification System (ENS) in case of an emergency.
No one was injured. Residents in the surrounding apartments were able to reoccupy their apartments at around 1:20 a.m.
The accident occurred on 96B at around 9:16 a.m.
The two most recent burglaries occurred Nov. 27 in apartments 110 and 170, according to the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management.
Like many colleges and universities around the country, Ithaca College’s number of reported rapes has risen the past few years.

Jamie Williamson, public information officer of the Ithaca Police Department, said there is no update to report at this time on the case.
So far this academic year, there have been 20 sexual assaults reported to the Title IX office at the college, and in the 2015–16 academic year, there were 23 sexual assaults reported, said Ziemann.
All registered weapons are stored in a firearm safe and can be accessed only if there is an officer present and permission to release the weapon has been secured in advance.
Ithaca College’s Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management has seen an increase in reported rape cases, weapons violations and drug violations.
The Ithaca College Office of Public Safety and Ithaca Police Department have increased their patrols and presence on and around campus this fall, due to both standard protocol and recent crime.
