As the top regular-season team in the Liberty League Championship Tournament, the No. 17/18 Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team had high expectations heading into the playoffs. After receiving a bye, the Bombers were upset by the Union College Chargers 10-4 in the semifinal round May 1 at Higgins Stadium.

The No. 22 Ithaca College men’s lacrosse suffered a grueling loss to non-conference rivals the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons on April 15 at Higgins Stadium. The Bombers could not keep up with the physicality of the Red Dragons, struggling to deliver the ball to the back of the net and win the one-on-one matchups.

The common saying, “defense wins championships,” resonates heavily with the 2026 Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team. The Bombers have leaned into the mantra for their defense, “system over matchup,” and it has paid off, earning the No. 22 spot in the national Division III rankings and the No. 12 spot in the USA Lacrosse Magazine for the week of April 12.

The No. 22 Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team secured another nail-biting victory 11-10 against the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers for the first time since 2018 April 11 at Higgins Stadium. In the April 12 voting, the Bombers entered the national rankings, jumping 20 places from No. 42 previously.

The unranked Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team showed out in primetime to defeat the No.6 nationally ranked Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers 9-8 at Higgins Stadium. The Bombers’ defense pumped the brakes on the Liberty League’s top offense to grab the first victory against the Tigers since 2016 and the second in 16 years.

The Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team upset the No. 15 St. Lawrence University Saints 14-5 March 28 at Higgins Stadium, ending a seven-year losing streak to the Liberty League rivals. The Bombers’ defense denied the Saints any fighting chance in the second half, allowing just a single goal.

The Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team opened up its home season with a down to the wire 9-8 win against the Nazareth University Golden Flyers on March 4 at Higgins Stadium, bumping their record to 2-2. The Bombers’ productive third quarter was essential, producing five out of the nine goals and allowing just one.
After finishing the 2025 season 10-9 overall and returning to the Liberty League playoffs for the first time since 2021, the Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team enters this spring with hunger and unfinished business.
On April 19 at Higgins Stadium, the Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team is tied with Clarkson University 10-10 with 20 seconds remaining. It is Senior Day, and the Bombers are one win away from snapping their playoff drought of three seasons.
For the first time since 2021, the Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team will dance in the Liberty League Championship Tournament because the Bombers won an 11-10 thriller over the Clarkson University Golden Knights on April 19.
The Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team suffered its first home loss of the season to the Hamilton College Continentals on March 25, snapping the Bombers’ five-game win streak.
During the Spring 2024 lacrosse season, Ithaca College graduate student midfielder Kyle Savery transitioned from a player to a coach for a year, but not by choice. Savery suffered a devastating ACL injury during a captain’s practice in August 2023, moving him to the sidelines. For Spring 2025, Savery has returned to the field, and it is like he never left.
