After back-to-back losses to nationally ranked opponents, the Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team traveled March 14 to Orlando, Florida, for a matchup with Babson College. The Bombers defeated the Beavers 14–9.
Starting off scoreless in the first nine minutes of the game, the Bombers scored three goals in fewer than two minutes. Freshman attackman Danika Wagener began the scoring at the 21:35 mark of the first half with the first goal of the game. Fifteen seconds later, the Bombers scored again, this time by senior midfielder Riley Marion, who rushed down the field for her first of two goals on the day.
Twenty-seven seconds after Marion’s goal, the Bombers scored once again, this time by junior attackman Morgan Racicot.
After freshman midfielder Allison Panara scored her fifth goal of the season on a man-up, the Beavers finally go on the board when sophomore attackman Charlotte O’Halloran scored with 16:46 minutes to go before halftime. The Bombers and the Beavers would then trade goal for goal, but the Bombers were able to survive the attempted comeback and went into the intermission up 8–5.
The Beavers tried to chip away at the Bombers lead, with O’Halloran scoring a goal four minutes into the second half to make it 8–6 with 26 minutes to go. But the Bombers would have none of it, scoring three unassisted goals by Racicot and freshman midfielders Julia Silvestri and Erin Mcgee in a six minute span.
The victory returns the Bombers to a .500 record on the season, going 2–2 in their first four games. The Bombers will play one more game on their Florida road trip before returning home, when the South Hill squad takes on Skidmore College at 3 p.m. March 18.
