The Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team squeaked out a road win after a late goal from junior midfielder Morgan Cadwell, giving the Bombers a 14–13 victory over Stevens Institute of Technology on March 26.

The Bombers trailed at halftime 7–6, before garnering a two-goal advantage in the second half, capped off by the game-winner from Cadwell with 56 seconds remaining.

The two teams went tick for tack, putting the Blue and Gold in a 10–7 hole. However, early in the second half the Bombers sparked a 7–3 run to propel them to their fourth straight win.

Senior midfielder Ally Lates had a late run in the second half for the Bombers, scoring an unassisted goal to cut the Ducks’ lead to 10–8.

Junior goalie Emily Ross made some big saves on free position shots to hold down the Ducks’ scoring, followed by a goal from freshman attackman Danika Wagener, who cut the lead to just one.

The teams went back and forth from there, leaving Stevens with a 13–12 advantage with 9:32 remaining.

The Bombers seized possession, giving themselves many scoring opportunities down the stretch.

Ultimately it was the Bombers defense that got the job done, after Cadwell’s goal, forcing a turnover, allowed the team to run out the clock and clinch the win.

Sophomore midfielder Riley Marion led the way with six points on the afternoon, scoring five goals and assisting on another. Cadwell totaled four goals and one assist, while junior attackman Morgan Racicot found the back of the net twice.

In the non-scoring categories, the Blue and Gold were aided by Marion, who won three draw controls. Racicot collected four ground balls and freshman midfielder Allison Panara forced two turnovers.

Ross made seven saves in the Bomber’s win, improving the team’s record to 5–2.

The Bombers hit the field next against SUNY Geneseo at 7 p.m. March 31 in Higgins Stadium.
